The World Economic Forum connects leaders from business, government, civil society, international organizations, academia and the next generation to make sense of global challenges and move the world forward together.

As an independent, not-for-profit foundation founded in 1971 and headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, the Forum provides valuable foresight and convenes trusted physical and digital spaces. By bringing together diverse perspectives and building relationships, it enables common understandings to emerge and drive progress.

Today’s challenges are too complex and fast-moving for any one organization, country or sector to solve alone. Economic transformation, technological change, geopolitical shocks and environmental pressures are deeply interconnected. This reality is why the Forum involves a broad range of stakeholders to turn shared understanding into tangible, meaningful solutions.

The Forum’s mission – to improve the state of the world through public-private cooperation – has guided its work for more than 50 years. Today, that mission is pursued through three strategic focus areas: growth, innovation and resilience. Our work concentrates on the most critical global issues where collaboration is essential and, importantly, the organization’s role is to facilitate shared understanding through insights, connections and collaboration that make progress possible.

This work is delivered through a network of six global offices, 11 centres, a Fourth Industrial Revolution Network and three sister organizations: the Global Shapers Community, the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship and the Forum of Young Global Leaders. These act as the engine of the organization, convening stakeholders, generating insights and advancing initiatives that translate shared understanding into collective action.

The Forum’s work includes multi-year initiatives, strategic insights and communities. The Forum hosts a range of meetings – from the Annual Meeting in Davos to regional and thematic gatherings across the globe – to provide space for trust-based dialogue and collaboration, while extending the reach and impact of those conversations through its global communications platforms.

The Forum has a diverse, global workforce of more than 1,000 people representing over 100 nationalities, working in offices in Beijing, Geneva, Mumbai, New York, San Francisco and Tokyo. Together with its partners and communities, the Forum’s employees contribute to a collaborative ecosystem that spans sectors, regions, nationalities and generations.
