Sustainability At Davos 2023

Davos is aiming to become Switzerland’s first carbon-neutral resort by 2030. This commitment to sustainability extends to the design and operations of its best-known events. Since 2016, the World Economic Forum has increasingly applied leading sustainability practices to its Annual Meetings in Davos. The event's design places a strong emphasis on reused and reusable material without compromising on quality or safety. Textiles used in decorations from the previous are upcycled for the Congress Center spaces. The Forum works with GreenUp to redistribute decorative materials, not stored nor used, to local communities. The Forum’s fleet includes electric and hybrid cars, and participants are also encouraged to travel by train from Europe through a 50% discount. All event-related carbon emissions, including air travel, are offset. The Forum measures food waste through KITRO’s artificial intelligence and distributes unconsumed food to local communities through Davos 4Reasons Initiative. Across the event, single-use containers are compostable, water fountains have replaced PET bottles, and organic waste is used for biogas production. The Forum aims to act responsibly and underscore our shared responsibility towards our planet and resources. At the Annual Meeting - Davos 2023, several global leaders, entrepreneurs, and change seekers will get together to discuss some of the most pressing issues and where cooperation can take us in a fragmented world.
