Mark Pollock: From blind adventurer to paralysis advocate
Mark’s goal is to help ‘cure paralysis in our lifetime’. He believes it is possible through technology such as exoskeletons and implants and, one day, biological interventions.
Mark Pollock, an accomplished adventurer and athlete, lost his sight at the age of 22. Undeterred, he went on to achieve remarkable feats, including winning silver at the Commonwealth Rowing Championships and running six marathons across China's Gobi Desert. However, in 2010, a tragic accident left him paralyzed from the waist down.

Despite this setback, Mark refused to give up. Instead, he channeled his determination into a mission to find a cure for paralysis. He established the charity Collaborative Cures to bring together leading scientists, investors, and philanthropists to collaborate on groundbreaking research and make treatments accessible to all.
