We have a complex relationship with our oceans. At once they are a source of sustenance, food security and income, yet also an infinite repository for our waste.
Dr. Wendy Broadgate is Director of Future Earth Global Hub, Sweden. Dr Wendy Broadgate was Deputy Director, Natural Sciences, at the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP) from 2000 to 2015. Since February 2015 she has been director of The Fisheries Secretariat, a non-profit working towards sustainable fisheries in Europe. Dr Broadgate was the lead author on a major policy brief on ocean acidification (IGBP, SCOR, IOC, 2013). She holds a PhD in marine chemistry from the University of East Anglia, UK.
