Natural Innovator. Systems Thinker/Integrator. Lifelong Learner. Obsessed with Finding Global Solutions to Wicked Problems including AI for Good, Digital Transformation and Planetary Health
As Fraser Health’s CEO and President, I am responsible for executing the overall strategic direction and operations of the second largest health system in Canada serving 20 municipalities, 32 First Nations and 6 Metis chartered communities. I am proud to work alongside over 45,000 committed staff, medical staff and volunteers to find local solutions for world’s health system challenges.
I am driven by my values of equity and justice, and my desire to make significant positive societal impacts. I am drawn to finding collective solutions that get to the deep roots of a problem and addressing the core issues. I love seeding innovation to pioneer new solutions, architecting strategic partnerships to deliver results and galvanizing system level transformation in complex settings.
My professional journey spanning 25 years has been comprised of interconnected chapters in the areas of:
1) Primary care clinician and researcher in low income settings in Indigenous communities of Chile to inner-city clinics in Toronto;
2) Ecocultural health and global development collaborating with non-governmental agencies such as Terralingua to intergovernmental agencies such as the United Nations Environmental Programme;
3) Comparative health system, financing and public policies to improve health care performance, quality and sustainability working with organizations such as the World Bank; and
4) Broad senior executive leadership that encompass health care, public health, major capital projects, and digital transformation.
I am passionate about the interplay between technology and data-driven results; enjoy advising start-ups/new entrepreneurs and am relentless in my pursuit of social change to deliver global impact.
