Suicide is a growing public health concern. In Canada, 4,000 lives are claimed by suicide each year — that is 10 lives per day.
Trehani M. Fonseka is a Research Associate with the Department of Psychiatry at the University Health Network, and Project Lead for the Canadian Biomarker Integration Network in Depression (CAN-BIND)’s Indigenous Program at St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada. She is currently collaborating with a team of investigators and community groups to develop an integrated depression awareness and suicide prevention program targeted towards Indigenous youth.
