Thomas Helbling is Division Chief in the IMF’s Asia and Pacific Department, covering Australia and New Zealand. Previously, he was Chief of the World Economic Studies Division in the IMF’s Research Department, where he co-directed the work on the World Economic Outlook. He has worked on a wide range of issues and countries at the IMF since 1994, including on global energy and commodity markets. Mr. Helbling has a doctorate in international economics from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, Switzerland.
