Silvia Console Battilana

Visiting Scholar, Stanford University

Dr. Silvia Console Battilana is the CEO of Auctionomics, the world’s leading market design firm, which she co-founded in 2008 with Nobel laureate Paul Milgrom. An expert in game theory, Dr. Battilana consults with multinational corporations and government agencies around the globe to design, implement, and advise bidders on the world’s most high stakes auctions. She is the recipient of an Emmy Award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for her role in designing and running the historic $19 billion spectrum auction for the US Federal Communications Commision, which enabled modern streaming services and forever changed the way television is consumed. Silvia is a Finance Leaders Fellow with the Aspen Institute and a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader. Prior to Auctionomics, she taught as a Visiting Professor at Bocconi University and has been an invited speaker at numerous academic institutions including Harvard, Caltech, and Berkeley. Silvia is a graduate of Bocconi University and Stanford University, where she received a PhD in economics. Silvia is the mother to two young daughters and when she’s not running the world’s most high-stakes auctions, she enjoys competing in open-level beach volleyball tournaments.
