President & CEO, Disruptive Futures Institute

Roger Spitz (B.Sc. Econ, M.Sc., FCA, APF) is the Chair of the Disruptive Futures Institute in San Francisco. Spitz serves on multiple boards focused on anticipatory governance, sustainability, AI & ethics, venture capital (VC), and academia.

Techistential, his Climate & Strategic Foresight practice, advises CEOs, founders, and boards on evaluating strategy under uncertainty, anticipating disruptions, and sustainable value creation.

As part of the Disruptive Futures Institute (DFI), Spitz develops and teaches Strategic Foresight & Systems Innovation programs. The DFI Nature & Climate Academy equips leaders to accelerate the energy transition for sustainable futures, focusing on climate foresight and decarbonization strategies.

Spitz has written five bestselling books, including the collection “The Definitive Guide to Thriving on Disruption,” whose frameworks, adopted by organizations worldwide, have featured in the Association for Professional Futurists, Fast Company, Gartner, INC. Magazine, Institute of Directors, Journal of Futures Studies, MIT Technology Review, and Peter Drucker Forum. Spitz also publishes extensively on the future of strategic decision-making and artificial intelligence, and is known for coining the term "Techistentialism."

A strong advocate for startups, he is venture partner at Vektor Partners and an advisor of Berkeley SkyDeck’s fund. Spitz previously led Global Technology M&A at BNP Paribas, advising on over 50 transactions totaling $25bn. He launched the bank’s US M&A practice in San Francisco and built its European Technology & Digital Corporate Finance advisory franchises in London & Paris.

Bilingual English & French, Spitz lived in 10 different cities across three continents.
