Nancy Brown has served as the CEO of the American Heart Association since 2008. Under her leadership, the Association has become a global authority on cardiovascular and brain health as well as overall health and well-being. With a global presence in more than 100 countries and $1.2 billion in annual revenue, the Association is a relentless force for a world of longer, healthier lives.
Nancy forges powerful partnerships – together with 40 million volunteers, supporters and staff – to champion equitable health for all at the intersection of science, technology and public policy on behalf of patients and their families. Since 1949, the Association has invested $6 billion to accelerate scientific discoveries in cardiovascular and cerebrovascular care and drive innovation using new technologies, including artificial intelligence.
A strong advocate for women, Nancy empowers women’s health through the Go Red for Women® movement, Research Goes Red consumer registry, and the Go Red for Women Venture Fund—the largest known dedicated women’s health venture fund in the U.S. She also expanded the Association’s global leadership in resuscitation science and CPR/AED education and training, including launching the “Nation of Lifesavers” movement to empower everyone to save a life. Since 2013, Nancy has partnered with Fortune 500 CEOs, through the AHA CEO Roundtable, to improve the health and well-being of employees, families and communities.
Nancy serves on numerous global leadership councils, including the Wall Street Journal and CNBC CEO Councils, Yale CEO Summit, and Women Leaders in Healthcare. She also holds key leadership roles in the World Economic Forum (WEF), serving as a member and past co-chair of the Health & Healthcare Governors Community, co-chair of the Global Health Equity Network, and executive board member of the Global Coalition for Value in Healthcare.
