Manikanta Naik is the Managing Director of Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited, a business that is developing its multi-product Industrial Park at Gopalpur in the Ganjam district of Odisha. The Park has brought in few major investors in the last few months.
Having joined Tata Steel Limited in 1992, he has served at various capacities in Tata Steel and its group companies. His 30+ years of experience spans across operations, business development, corporate sustainability, business strategy and mergers & acquisitions. He spent his initial years in the Raw Material Division of Tata Steel and moved on to an overseas project in the Middle East. He has played a key role in the renewal of mining leases and establishment of greenfield projects in Odisha while working closely with the Government authorities. Later, he was actively involved in the successful acquisition of Bhushan Steel and its successful merger with Tata Steel. He oversaw the DRI business of Tata Steel Long Products Limited prior to joining Tata Steel Special Economic Zone Limited.
He has served on the boards of Tata Sponge, TS Alloys and Kalinga Aquatics and has been actively involved in various industry forums.
An alumnus of Regional College of Engineering (now NIT), Rourkela, he has attended the Executive Business Management Program of Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB).
