Luis A. Reyes Jr. is the Chief Executive Officer of Kit Carson Electric Cooperative (KCEC), where he has served since 1993 after beginning his career with the Cooperative as a System Engineer in 1984. A Taos native, Luis holds an Associate of Arts from the New Mexico Military Institute and a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from New Mexico State University. Under his leadership, KCEC has become a national model for community-driven innovation, achieving 100% daytime solar, expanding broadband access, and advancing renewable energy, battery storage, and grid modernization initiatives. He continues to champion sustainable economic development and collaborative energy solutions across northern New Mexico.
