Louis Downing is CEO of the Global Infrastructure Basel Foundation. He has a background as an engineer with a diverse professional practice across developed, emerging and least developed economies, as well as in conflict and post-conflict contexts. He is a respected thought leader, experienced innovator and sustainability/resilience expert. With qualifications in Environmental and Chemical Engineering, Physics and International Development, Downing also brings experience in leading complex multistakeholder processes and has developed and led a range of impactful global programmes accelerating sustainable and resilient infrastructure.
He has a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemistry, a Bachelor of Science in Physics and a Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering.
