
How Asia can be an example in the fight against plastic pollution
This year, the theme for World Environment Day – Ending Plastic Pollution Globally – could not be timelier.
As a National Plastic Action Platform Specialist, Liviana, since 2022, has been leading the expansion of the World Economic Forum’s Global Plastic Action Partnership in Asia.
She supports the establishment and coordination of national and local partnerships to drive plastic action and impact, in close cooperation with Governments and private sector stakeholders.
She is responsible for regional collaboration, supporting knowledge exchange and synergies among different stakeholders and organizations addressing plastic pollution.
With over 15 years of professional experience, she is deeply committed to advancing sustainable development, international cooperation, and social justice. Her core expertise spans project management, strategic communication, government relations, public-private partnerships, business development, and fundraising, built through extensive work with the United Nations, NGOs, and the private sector across Europe and Asia.

According to United Nations estimates, plastic accounts for 80% of waste in the ocean. Litter and improperly disposed plastic items end up in rivers, seas and eventually in the ocean.
