Laurent is a member of the Naspers Executive Team and was appointed CEO of Naspers Fintech/PayU in January 2016.
Laurent was appointed in January 2016 as Chief Executive Officer of PayU, the Payments and FinTech division of the Naspers Group, with operations in 20 countries across India, EMEA, India, Latam and South East Asia.
PayU is one of the most active Fintech investor globally, having deployed close to $750 million in the past years to consolidate its leadership position in payments and support the growth of innovative solutions to provide access to credit for underbanked populations and accelerate the adoption of digital remittances (Remitly).
In addition to Fintech, PayU is also a key advocate of crypto currencies and blockchain technologies, with several investments to date, including being one of the founding members of the Libra association and member of its board of directors.
Prior to PayU, Laurent culminated an 11-year career at PayPal as Vice-President and General Manager for Continental Europe, Russia, Middle-East and Africa. He started his career as business analyst at McKinsey before founding and growing his own software company and successfully selling it.
Laurent serves on the Board of Remitly Inc in the US and as an Independent Director for Monese Ltd, a digital bank in the UK.
Laurent holds an MBA from the London Business School and is a graduate of HEC in Paris and Bocconi University in Milan.
