Kumi Kitamori is Deputy Director at the OECD Environment Directorate. She oversees the work of the Environment Directorate, which provides relevant data and indicators, policy analysis and advice to support governments in identifying and implementing the policies needed for the transition to a green, low-carbon, nature-positive and circular economies. This includes multi-disciplinary initiatives e.g. Building Climate and Econmic Resilience, Inclusive Forum on Carbon Mitigation Appraoches, among others, in coordiation with other OECD policy communities and external partners.
As Head of Green Growth & Global Relations Division, she oversaw the mainstreaming of green growth in the work of various policy committees of the OECD and in member and partner countries. This included a dedicated programme that promotes green growth policies, finance and investment in the Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia region. She worked in the OECD Environment Directorate on various issues including emissions trading and taxes, water pricing, climate change, biodiversity, health & environment among others. Prior to joining the OECD Kumi worked at the World Bank on industrial pollution, water supply and sanitation and urban environmental infrastrucutre projects in East and South Asia.
Kumi holds BA and MSc in development and economics from New York University and London School of Economics.
