Karen Fang is Managing Director, Global Head of Sustainable Finance at Bank of America and a member of the company’s Management Committee. She works across BofA’s eight lines of business to drive the implementation of its firm-wide sustainable finance strategy and goal of mobilizing and deploying $1.5 trillion in sustainable finance capital over ten years by 2030.
Karen is a leader in global net zero and sustainable finance taskforces, including those organized by the UN, G7, B20/G20 and World Economic Forum (WEF). She is a member of the Climate Advisory Council for the Rockefeller Foundation. Karen is also a member of the Board of Trustees at Hospital of Special Surgery and serves on its Finance Committee and Digital Transformation Task Force.
She has been named one of Fortune’s “40 under 40” and a World Economic Forum Young Global Leader. In 2024, Time Magazine named her one of the 100 Most Influential Climate Leaders in Business. She has also been honored by Crain’s New York Business as a Notable Leader in Sustainability in both 2023 and 2024 and received the 2024 Global Sustainability Award from the One To World Fulbright Scholars community. Karen is the recipient of numerous other distinctions, including the American Banker Most Powerful Women Standout Award and Business Insider’s 100 People Transforming Business Award.
Prior to joining Bank of America, Karen held senior positions at Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank and Merrill Lynch. She earned a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Tokyo.
