Kara leads strategic partnerships for Invest Ottawa & Bayview Yards, the economic development agency, innovation hub, and technology accelerator in Canada’s capital. She directs partnership strategy, development, and activation, collaborating with leaders from the private and public sectors and academia to empower Ottawa startups and SMEs to scale globally, partner with multinational corporations, and create high value jobs. She also leads the sponsorship and corporate innovation strategies for Area X.0, a state-of-the-art facility for mobility, autonomy, and connected technologies including autonomous vehicles and drones and smart agriculture.

She is the Curator of the Ottawa Hub of the Global Shapers Community. Within the Ottawa Hub, she co-leads the Discovery Crew project, an initiative that connects young people with intellectual disabilities and other young professionals to form friendships and collaboratively develop solutions that enable all people to participate as active citizens. She spoke on Creating Inclusive Communities at the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions in 2019 with Her Excellency Hessa Bint Essa Buhumaid, Minister of Community Development, United Arab Emirates. She trained as a Climate Reality Leader in Atlanta, GA in 2019.
