Founder and CEO of Deep Principle Inc., Jia Haojun holds a PhD in physical chemistry from MIT (Department of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering). His primary research focuses on combining high-throughput quantum chemistry and AI to discover novel catalytic materials for carbon neutrality. Jia has published over 10 papers in leading journals in computational catalysis, quantum chemistry and functional materials. He served as President of the MIT Chinese Students and Scholars Association (MIT CSSA) from 2022 to 2023. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physics with highest honours from both Jilin University and Tomsk Polytechnic University, where he was an honoured member of the Tang Aoqing Honors Program and a recipient of the Outstanding Prize in Research & Practice. Jia also conducted research at Dow Chemical’s core R&D centre in Midland, applying AI to develop catalyst formulas and predict chemical reaction pathways. He was named to Forbes China 100 Most Influential Chinese and Forbes 30 Under 30 China 2024. Under Jia’s leadership, Deep Principle has successfully closed four rounds of funding, securing approximately $20 million from investors including Hillhouse Capital, Vertex Ventures, Linear Capital, Lenovo Capital, Baidu Venture and XtalPi (2228.HK).
