Javier Garcia-Martinez

Professor, Director of the Molecular Nanotechnology Lab, University of Alicante

A globally recognized scientists, entrepreneur, and thought leader in sustainable energy and advanced materials. He is Professor of Inorganic Chemistry at the University of Alicante and founder of Rive Technology, a successful spin-off from MIT that developed and commercialized novel nanostructured zeolite catalysts to improve energy efficiency in the chemical industry—technology now implemented worldwide after the company’s acquisition by W. R. Grace.
With deep expertise in catalysis, nanotechnology, and innovation management, Javier has advised governments, international organizations, and companies on energy transition and sustainability. He served as President of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC), where he led initiatives promoting green chemistry, education, and diversity in science.
A former Young Global Leader, contributor to the Forum´s report on Top Ten Emerging Technologies since 2014, Honorary Fellow of the Chinese Chemical Society, and Honorary Professor of the Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Javier combines rigorous science with visionary leadership. His work has earned him numerous awards, patents, and a lasting impact on the global chemical enterprise.
