Jason Giffen has over 25 years of experience in the planning and environmental fields, with an applied concentration on coastal and marine environments in California. For the last 12 years, he has implemented a robust portfolio of environmental programs at the Port of San Diego advancing environmental protection (air, land, water, & wildlife), climate action planning, coastal resilience, nature-based solutions, maritime sustainability, and blue economy innovation. He is a seasoned thought-to-action catalyst adept at advancing innovative partnerships with triple-bottom line benefits, including pilot project facilitation through the Port’s Blue Economy Incubator and expanding the reach of ports as catalysts for innovation and sustainability. He holds a master’s degree in international environmental policy from the Middlebury Institute of International Studies and executive education in Sustainability Leadership through Harvard University's Center for Climate, Health, and the Global Environment
