Gilbert De Gregorio

Associate Director, The Frontiers Planet Prize

Gilbert De Gregorio is an open research advocate, and works at the intersection of science, publishing, and international collaboration. He is currently the Associate Director of the Frontiers Planet Prize, the world's largest science competition in planetary health and earth system science, awarding 3 prizes of 1 million USD to three researchers every year for breakthrough research driving real-world transformation. His role focuses on the strategic deployment of the Prize and engagement with an institutional network of over 700 universities across 69 countries, and 24 national academies of science.
Gilbert trained as a green chemist and holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry from the University of St Andrews and a PhD from Imperial College London. His doctoral research focused on sustainable biofuel production using ionic liquids.
