Genevieve Smith is the Founding Director of the Responsible AI Initiative at the UC Berkeley Artificial Intelligence Research Lab (BAIR) and Professional Faculty at UC Berkeley Haas School of Business on responsible AI. She is also a research affiliate at the Minderoo Centre for Technology & Democracy at Cambridge University and a research affiliate at the Technology & Management Centre for Development at Oxford. She’s published various award-winning or nominated management education cases, including Responsible AI: Tackling Tech's Largest Corporate Governance Challenges. Her research and work has been published in journals such as Big Data & Society and California Management Review, as well as shared in Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Social Stanford Innovation Review and more. Prior to working at UC Berkeley, she worked with the UN Foundation, UN Women, and International Center for Research on Women conducting research and leading projects on inclusive and equitable technology.
