My background is in Erasmus Mundus MSc in Marine Biodiversity and Conservation at the University of Ghent, Belgium and a training scholarship from the Center of Excellence in Observational Oceanography at the Alfred Wegner Institute in Germany.
I co-founded Oceanus Conservation in 2020 where we lobbied for a local agreement to protect 260 ha of mangrove forests across the Philippines and rehabilitate 20ha of abandoned fishponds back to mangrove forests.
With more than a decade of experience in coastal management and marine conservation, I've led various community-based mangrove restoration projects, facilitated alternative livelihoods to communities, and engaged more than 7000 young people in ocean conservation. Camille is a National Geographic Explorer, Global Future Council member on the Regenerative Blue Economy, and co-author of a World Economic Forum article on valuing blue carbon for local communities.
She represents Southeast Asia as part of the Early Career Ocean Professionals network and GLFx Asia Pacific Steering Committee and the Ocean Literacy Hub in Asia, building regional collaboration for inclusive ocean action.
