David J Hornsby

Senior Lecturer in International Relations & Assistant Dean of Humanities, University of the Witwatersrand

Dr David J Hornsby is a Senior Lecturer in International Relations and Assistant Dean of Humanities (Teaching and Learning), University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. Hailing from Canada, David read for his PhD in the Department of Politics and International Studies at the University of Cambridge, UK. David holds an honorary appointment in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Public Policy (STEaPP) Department at University College London. David’s research interests pertain to a number of different themes as it relates to the International Political Economy including the politics of science and risk in international governance, Canadian foreign policy in Sub-Saharan Africa, middle power cooperation, and pedagogy in higher education. David has published in both the biological and social sciences, and is a recognized teacher having been awarded the 2013 Faculty of Humanities Teaching and Learning Award and the Vice Chancellor’s Teaching Award (Individual) at Wits University. David sits on the Boards of Canadian Foreign Policy Journal and Active Learning in Higher Education and has recently published a book through the Palgrave IPE series entitled: Risk Regulation, Science, and Interests in Transatlantic Trade Conflicts. Further he is the lead editor of Large Class Pedagogy: Interdisciplinary Perspectives for Quality Higher Education with SUN Press.
