Why local communities are essential to curbing youth unemployment
The world of work has become an increasingly difficult environment for young people. Youth unemployment in Australia is persistently higher than for other age groups.
I am a sociologist specialising in studies of youth, especially youth inequalities as they relate to social inequalities. I have conducted research on youth homelessness, rural and regional young people, and youth employment/unemployment. I am currently receiving funding from the Australian Research Council for a three-year study examining the formation of young workers in regional areas of high youth unemployment.
