Daniel Akinmade Emejulu is Head of Global Public Policy and Social Impact at Quside, a quantum technology company focused on strengthening digital resilience and digital trust.
Previously, Daniel served as a member of the original team that launched Microsoft’s internal United Nations Affairs office in January 2020. He served as a Program Manager of the Microsoft UN Affairs team, based in Geneva. He joined Microsoft in 2019 as part of the Microsoft President’s executive-sponsored technology diplomacy team. During his time at the company, he contributed to building Microsoft’s partnerships with a diverse range of UN agencies and related organizations around the world, represented the company in technical working groups and policy forums, and co-chaired an Internet Governance Forum Policy Network on Digitalization and the Environment.
He also championed Microsoft’s engagement with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including co-authoring Microsoft’s annual report on the UN Global Goals for three years. His work was later recognized through the UN Global Compact USA “SDG Pioneers” program.
Earlier in his career, Daniel worked with The Global Fund and the United Nations Environment Programme in Geneva. He was also a Research Analyst at the World Economic Forum, where he worked on environmental sustainability initiatives and supported the Global Agenda Council on Sustainable Development, a high-level multistakeholder group chaired by Amina J. Mohammed that contributed to the global dialogue that shaped what became the SDGs.
His publications and expert commentary on technology policy, social impact and sustainability have featured in the Financial Times, The Economist Group, The Brookings Institution, Chatham House, Business Insider, HuffPost, Monocle, Harvard Africa Policy Journal, The Africa Report and CNBC Africa, among others.
Daniel is a qualified lawyer in Nigeria. He holds an LLM from Duke University and an LLB from SOAS, University of London. His executive and professional studies include Private International Law at The Hague Academy of International Law; Environmental Governance and Policy Making at the Geneva Graduate Institute; Artificial Intelligence at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; and The Intersection of Policy and Technology at Harvard Kennedy School.
