Minhan Dai is the Tan Kah Kee Chair Professor of Marine Environmental Science at Xiamen University and also serves as Director of the Fujian Ocean Innovation Center (Fujian-OI). His research spans marine biogeochemistry, marine technology innovation, and the science-policy interface, with a particular focus on advancing sustainable ocean development.
Prof. Dai has authored more than 260 peer-reviewed publications and is internationally recognized as a highly cited scholar. His distinguished honors include being elected as a Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2017, receiving the AOGS Axford Medal in 2022, winning the AGU Ambassador Award and being elected as an AGU Fellow in 2024, and being elected a Fellow of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science & Technology (IMarEST) in 2026.
Prof. Dai is deeply committed to international scientific collaboration and global ocean governance. He serves on the Expert Group of the High-Level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy. He is also a Council Member of the China Council for International Cooperation on Environment and Development (CCICED), Lead Principal Investigator of the UN Ocean Decade-endorsed project – COASTAL-SOS, and previously served as Co-Chair of the Surface Ocean-Lower Atmosphere Study (SOLAS) from 2021 to 2023.
