Daan Walter is a Principal at Ember, leading strategy research on the future of energy. He focuses on forecasting the rapid growth of electrotech—such as solar PV, batteries, and digitization—and analyzing its strategic implications.
Before joining Ember, Daan was a Principal at RMI, where he led global energy strategy research into batteries, efficiency, and mineral demand. Prior to that, at McKinsey, he co-founded and led the Sustainability Analytics team, advising governments and Fortune 500 companies on the energy transition. Daan holds a graduate degree in Nuclear Energy and a graduate degree in Theoretical Physics from the University of Cambridge, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Amsterdam.
