Clemens Jobst

Economist, Oesterreichische Nationalbank and CEPR

Clemens Jobst is economist at the Oesterreichische Nationalbank and research affiliate at CEPR. After undergraduate studies at the University of Vienna and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, he earned a doctorate at Sciences Po Paris in 2007. His research has been published in the Cambridge Journal of Regions, Economy and Societies, the Economic Journal, the European Review of Economic History and theJournal of Economic History among others. A joint article with Marc Flandreau on "The empirics of international currencies: Networks, history and persistence" won the Royal Economic Society Price for the best non-solicited paper published in The Economic Journal in 2009. His research interests include monetary policy implementation, central bank balance sheets and the history of central banking. He is currently preparing a history of the Austrian National Bank, which will come out in early 2016.
