Dr. Ashwini Sharan is Chief Medical Officer for Medtronic Neuromodulation and Professor of Neurological Surgery and Neurology at Sidney Kimmel Medical College, Thomas Jefferson University. At Medtronic, he drives strategy in brain and pain therapies, with a passion for advancing the neurosciences through medical technology.

A board-certified neurosurgeon and faculty member for 23 years, Dr. Sharan has performed more than 8,000 operations and treated over 20,000 patients. He is internationally recognized for his contributions to functional neurosurgery, particularly in epilepsy and pain surgery. In 2025, he has authored over 250 peer-reviewed publications, cited more than 20,000 times, with an H-index of 78.

Dr. Sharan is a past president of both the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) and the North American Neuromodulation Society (NANS). He also serves on the board of Medtronic Labs, where he champions global health equity, addressing disparities in care and promoting technology to expand access to healthy living worldwide.
