Began career as a policy analyst in defence and national security, office of the President of Colombia; 1993-2002, corporate affairs positions, British Petroleum (BP); worked in Colombia, Venezuela, UK, China and the US; 2003-05, Deputy Minister of Defence of Colombia; 2005, appointed as Head of DAS, the civilian intelligence and law enforcement agency; 2007, left the government and joined Bavaria, the Colombian subsidiary of SAB Miller, as Director, Sustainable Development; 2010, appointed as Senior Vice-President, Corporate Affairs, SABMiller Latin America.
