AIによる香りのデジタル化がもたらす、「嗅覚インテリジェンス」とは
嗅覚は、他の感覚にはない方法で私たちの感情や記憶と結びついています。たとえば、パンの香りは子ども時代の台所にいる感覚を呼び起こし、愛する人の香水の香りは何年経っても安心感を与えてくれます。また、嗅覚は、何百万年にもわたって進化してきた、人間の最も古い感覚でもあります。私たちの祖先は、嗅覚を頼りに危険を察知し、食料を見つけ、血縁を認識し、水源を探してきました。
Alex Wiltschko
Alex Wiltschko is Founder and CEO of Osmo, where he leads efforts to give machines a sense of smell. A serial entrepreneur at the intersection of AI and biology, Wiltschko previously served as a research leader at Google DeepMind. He has founded and exited two AI start-ups, Syllable (acquired by Neumora) and Whetlab (acquired by Twitter) and was named among Business Insider’s Top 100 People in AI. Wiltschko holds a PhD in olfactory neuroscience from Harvard University and has dedicated his career to exploring how AI can interface with the human sensory experience.
