Youth Entrepreneurship: Promoting Future Rural Enterprises

This project is a San Jose Hub initiative that was delivered in 2019-early 2020. The purpose of this project is to equip young people from rural, economically disadvantaged communities with an entrepreneurial mindset and the values, skills, and confidence to pursue a more prosperous future for themselves and their communities. For this project, 19 sessions and 3 field trips were designed and implemented, allowing 16 participants (aged 15-20, 56% women) to receive 92 hours of training and additional one-on-one mentoring. As a result, 14 final business projects were developed by young people from rural, economically disadvantaged communities, urging them to acquire an entrepreneurial mindset, and the values, skills, and confidence to pursue a more prosperous future for themselves and their communities. Participants have strengthened self-perception of themselves as entrepreneurs and also increased their confidence and knowledge on how to create a business.
