By creating the Italian SIB Committee, the Rome Hub aims at becoming the catalyst for the introduction of Social Impact Bonds (SIBs) in Italy. SIBs are an innovative form of public procurement through which private investors support social projects at their start, and receive payments by the public sector based on the results achieved.
SIBs offer a win-win-win situation for public commissioners, non-profit organizations and investors: they enable innovative services to be introduced without commissioners having to pay if they do not work, they secure new avenues of funding for pioneering and successful charities, they provide a new form of profitable investment to socially responsible financiers.
