Shelter for the Homeless

Global Shapers Faisalabad Hub collaborated with Madina Foundation for the establishment of a Panahgah (Shelter Home) in the city. Situated at the General Bus Stand, this facility is the first of its kind in the city that spreads over an area of approximately 4.15 kanals and was completed at cost of around USD 225,000. Prime Minister Imran Khan inaugurated the Panahgah on January 03,2020, in the presence of several officials amongst others of Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar. Besides this, he met the people staying there and also was present during the official MOU signing ceremony. Necessary facilities including bedding, drinking water, toilets, electricity, and other basic amenities are made available for the residents, whereby our Shapers have taken the initiative to provide food on a daily basis to all the individuals staying there. With the advocacy of the Faisalabad Hub, the project team was able to add a separate unit for transgender people in the 350 beds shelter home. This shelter home may be of enormous importance, due to extreme weather conditions. It creates ease for travelers and those who are destitute, who are financially not able to afford a stay or those who do not have any place to stay.
