Milano Per Milano: Aggiungi un pasto a tavola

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a huge impact on people's lives in the city of Milan, especially for all the families and elderly people who, due to job uncertainty, the shutdown of commercial activities, and the inability to go out, are unable to provide for their essential food necessities.

The Food Policy department of the Municipality of Milan, together with several partners and actors of the Milanese community launched Milano Aiuta, a volunteering-based project to prepare and deliver food supplies to 16.000 people in need every week. 10 temporary hubs have been created all around Milan, to gather food aid to be delivered directly to the families in need.

As Global Shapers we have been involved by the Milan Municipality to contribute to this initiative on a double level. Firstly, by volunteering in the daily preparation of more than 1000 bags of fresh fruit and vegetables to provide up to 138 tons of fresh food during the 8 weeks of the Hub activities. Secondly, by participating as supporters of the crowdfunding program created to raise money for the purchase of foodstuffs, aiming to create balanced groceries supplies. In an attempt to raise awareness about the crowdfunding and the whole initiative, we developed a social campaign on our Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn profiles, asking our followers to support us and be part of this initiative with free donations.
