Medina Marvels

Problem Statement: Fassi youth must back "Medina Marvels" workshops to counter the loss of traditional craftsmanship and youth's disconnection from heritage. This fosters awareness and strengthens their bond with cultural roots.

Proposed Solution: Organizing different workshops in the heart of the medina for example leather workshops, traditional architecture models for kids, expositions and Medina tours or a musical event for a year.

Project Activities: We have so far an agreement with Ali Zaoua Fondation in the Medina where we do all the activities related to this initiative, we’d like to draft a partnership making it official soon with them - 25-10-2023 -We’d like also to bring cultural awareness and heritage understanding, these 2 factors will determine our KPI’s - We’d like to impact over 1000 people from now to the 07-2024

Project short-term goals: After the exposition we did, people got to know about GS in Fes, so we had a lot more followers and people who wanted to join the organisation. We also got the trust of the Ali Zaoua Foundation who proposed its place for our meetings and future events. Our members also were motivated and showed more involvement, and people who are interested in heritage and culture started reaching out.

Project long-term goals: The "Medina Marvels" project plans to make a lasting impact by teaching skills through workshops, connecting older artisans with young people, throwing cultural events to build a community, sharing resources for ongoing learning, capturing heritage stories, keeping everyone engaged. This mix of activities ensures the project leaves a strong, lasting impression, helping people stay connected to their heritage well into the future.

Project available metrics:

  • Over 100 people mobilized

  • Around 12 shapers participated

  • An exposition threw a week where youth from architecture schools, artists and the youth of the Medina joined. So we had over 200 followers that week on social media.

  • A workshop for 20 orphans in the Medina where we made 4 architectural models of a traditional Medina house

Collaborators: Ali Zaoua Foundation, Centre Les Etoiles
