Problem Statement

Food from organizations is being thrown out while charities need more food donations.

Proposed Solution

Connect suppliers to non-profits to manage logistics of donating food, and share food waste education.

Hub Activities

1. Learn about program from previous iteration done in Calgary.


2. Call for volunteers, suppliers and non-profits.


3. Matched the 3 stakeholders.


4. Coordinated logistics between stakeholders.


5. Hold a fundraising information event to transfer the project to a new, separate ‘Edmonton Leftovers’ organization. 

Goals and Results

-Rescuing over 200 lbs of food a week with 4-6 routes operating weekly to distribute supplier food to non-profits.

-Project transferred to ‘Edmonton Leftovers’ organization with volunteer that wanted to continue the efforts into the future, and provided organization $7000 of seed money to fund ongoing efforts.
