Emergency Relief Fund Raiser - Covid-19

The Kalubowila Hospital was in need of a new COVID ward to cater to the excess of patients due to the spike in COVID cases in 2021 3rd quarter and lack of facilities. Colombo Hub raised funds of 2.25 million LKR to purchase 10 ICU beds, 20 oxygen cylinders and 1 infusion pump to support the new ward in the hospital. Project took place from August 2021 - September 2021.

Activities:

• Collaborate with the hospital and identify the need


• Form a team to handle fundraising activities and to give publicity to the campaign


• Identify suppliers and lock in the equipment needed 


• Start PR campaign for the fund raiser alongside opening a GoFundMe campaign


• Once target is met, purchase equipment and handover to the hospital


• Keep donors informed of all proceedings and what their contribution went towards

Impact:

• Support for the Kalubowila Hospital to fast track the opening of their COVID ward


• Relief to more patients – as there was a shortage in oxygen cylinders at the time


• A contribution that would sustain for generations ahead even after the pandemic
