Young Sunwoo is Director General of IUAPPA, the International Union of Air Pollution Prevention and Environmental Protection Associations. He is also a Professor of Environmental Engineering at Konkuk University in Seoul, Korea. From 2018 to 2019, he served as the President of KOSAE, the Korean Society for Atmospheric Environment. He is on numerous international and national committees including CCAC (Climate and Clean Air Coalition), UNEP Asia Pacific Clean Air Partnership (APCAP) Science Panel, and the Korean Ministry of Environment’s Central Environmental Policy Committee.
Dr. Sunwoo received his Ph.D from the University of Iowa in the U.S. and his B.S. from Yonsei University in Seoul, Korea. His research interests include ‘International Cooperation in Air Pollution & Climate Change’, ‘Air Pollution Modeling’, ‘Air Pollution Policy & Management’, ‘SLCFs (Short-Lived Climate Forcers)’, etc. Recent activities include presentations and co-chairing of panels at the High Level Clean Air Forum hosted by UN ESCAP and the Saltsjobaden VII Workshop as a member of their Scientific Advisory Board, both in March, 2023.
