Xue Cheng

Spiritual Leader, Longquan Temple

Ven. Master Xuecheng was born in Xianyou, Fujian province in 1966. In 1982, he entered monastic life in Guanghua Monastery in Putian, Fujian. Later, he received tonsure from Ven. Master Dinghai, and followed Ven. Master Yuanzhuo to learn Buddhism. In 1988, he received the Three Platforms of Complete Precepts from Ven. Master Kuanlin, the Abbot of Manjughosha Monastery of Chengdu in Sichuan Province. In 1991, he graduated from the Buddhist Academy of China with a master’s degree. He is now President of the Buddhist Association of China, President of Buddhist Academy of China, President of the Fujian Buddhist Association, Abbot of Guanghua Monastery in Putian, Fujian, Abbot of Famen Monastery in Fufeng, Shaanxi, and Abbot of Beijing Longquan Monastery. Posts currently held by Ven. Master Xuecheng also include Member of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, Secretary General of China Committee on Religion and Peace, and Vice President of the Institute for Advanced Study of Humanities and Religion at Beijing Normal University.
