Dr. Tshering Lama, graduated from Northumbria University, UK with BSc (HONS) Health Development Studies, Masters of Public Health and Ph.D. in Telemedicine. In 2015 he completed executive course on the Global Leadership and Public Policy for the 21st century from Harvard University, John, F. Kennedy School of Governance, and Leadership for Racial Equity from University of Virginia USA in 2022.
Beside his academic achievement, he was awarded with the first ever Lord Glenamara International Scholarship in recognition of his efforts in improving public health and the environment through volunteering initiatives. His worked and education earned him the International Student of the Year 2006 award in the UK. He was further honored by Northumbria University by establishing 20 scholarships for Nepalese students under his name “Tshering Lama Northumbria University Scholarships” from 2006 to 2013.
Dr. Lama co-founded and now a Patron for a children charity in Nepal and led from 2010 Jan to 2016 December - a local charity works in partnership with local communities to help improve children’s access to healthcare, education, and child rights and protection in Nepal. Since the establishment the charity has reached out to more than 213,000 children in Nepal and worked with different
stakeholders: Nepal Government bodies, the UNICEF and many other organizations and business house to “unlock Nepalese children’ potential.” After the earthquake struck in April 2015, Dr. Tshering Lama lead the way to ensure that children can return to education by building 100 earthquake
resistant classrooms (more than 10 schools) two birthing centres and two community centres. Dr Lama further advocate and lead in creating schools as centre for community development (not just for education) and teachers as action researcher and social advocators.
Dr Lama strongly believes in Public Private Partnership and practicing Evidence Based Practices to creating new knowledge while making positive impact in the society. Dr Lama is the Executive Chairperson and Co-founder of Idea Studio Nepal: a platform to encourage and empower
entrepreneurs to solve social and economic issues faced by the country (www.ideastudionepal.org.np). Since, 2014 Idea Studio Nepal has been collaborating with Nepal
Government for Policy interventions, Universities for Knowledge creations and further enabling Private sectors to create Best Practices aligning their portfolios with the values: producing social and environmental benefits in addition to financial gains. In 2022, the Rt. Honorable President of Nepal, Mrs. Bidhya Devi Bhandari awarded Idea Studio Nepal with the Presidential Award for contributing in
the field of Innovation and Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in the country.
Dr. Lama is the Chief Enabler of LeadX Nepal a company runs a leadership related "Journey" training, workshop and conferences and support international collaboration on teaching and researches.
Dr Lama was the advisor for the Vice Chancellor’s office of Kathmandu University for Community Engagement and also a visiting lecturer for the leadership module for EMBA and supports PhD students. Currently, Dr Lama is the advisor to Executive Board of Dhulikeh Hosptial, One of leading Pharmaceutical Company, Health Advisor of the Ministry of Labour, Nepal.
In 2015, Dr Tshering Lama was selected by the World Economic Forum as a Young Global Leader. He is one of 8 Nepali’s to receive the honour.In 2025, he was further honoured with the Prime Minister National Talent Award 2081 (2025) in recognition of his outstanding contributions to entrepreneurship, innovation and social impact in Nepal.
