Tom Cohen is a Senior Fellow at the Centre for Transport Studies in University College London, UK. He is part of the team carrying out the major research project Driverless Futures? funded by a UK research council. In 2016, Tom led a UCL team that developed for the UK Department for Transport a set of social and behavioural questions relating to automated vehicles. More recently, he has supported a Sciencewise dialogue project on the topic of AVs and helped with the development of the international programme of dialogues being led by Missions Publiques and Arizona State University. Tom’s principal interests relating to new mobility centre on the governance of emerging technology and on the effective use of futures techniques to inform sound decision making. In addition, Tom is very interested in transport justice and in active transport, especially walking. Before joining UCL in 2009 to pursue a doctorate, Tom spent a decade in transport consultancy, working predominantly for public-sector clients.
