BA, McGill; PhD, Harvard. Experimental psychologist conducting research in visual cognition, psycholinguistics and social relations. Currently, Johnstone Professor of Psychology, Harvard; has also taught at Stanford and MIT. Elected Member, National Academy of Sciences. Chair, Usage Panel, American Heritage Dictionary. Author of nine books, including “The Language Instinct”, “How the Mind Works”, “The Blank Slate”, “The Better Angels of Our Nature”, and “The Sense of Style”. Writes frequently for the New York Times, the Guardian, and other publications. Recipient of numerous prizes for research, teaching, and books, including two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist, Humanist of the Year, and named one of Foreign Policy’s “World’s Top 100 Public Intellectuals” and Time’s “100 Most Influential People in the World Today”.
