Steffany Vizcaino

Alumni, Global Shapers Community

¡Hola! My name is Steffany Vizcaino and I have a Bachelor of Arts in International Business.
Currently, I'm the Project Director of AMIGOS DE LAS AMÉRICAS in Barranquilla, that inspires and builds young leaders through collaborative community development and immersion in cross-cultural experiences.
I am truly passionate about International Trade and Sustainable Development issues, mostly related to emerging and developing countries. I have been involved as a volunteer and youth activist for the Sustainable Development Goals regarding quality education rights, gender equality, youth civic engagement, environmental sustainability and empowerment of communities through collective action. I had the opportunity to be selected by The Ministry of External Relations as a Youth Delegate of Colombia for the UNESCO and to represent my University at the UNCTAD Institute to discuss about Trade Policy and social economic growth in Colombia and other Caribbean countries.

During my studies, I had the opportunity to start up a social iniciativa called The Scribble Project in hand with the Univoluntarios Program from Universidad Del Norte, a social initiative that aims to promote cultural exchange and multilingualism to children and young people from vulnerABLE communities without access to basic bilingual education through active learning and social inclusion.

I'm the Founder of YouthBAQ, an initiative that aims to empower youth around the city to create projects and raise awareness about the importance of the Suistainable Development Goals and the Agenda 2030.

I am looking forward to help recognize the value of the indigenous languages and local communities of Colombia that are in risk of extinction within my Country and internationally as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
