Serpil Timuray

Former CEO and Group Executive Committee Member, Vodafone Group

Serpil Timuray is a global business leader and experienced plc non-executive director with 34 years of experience in technology, telecommunications and fast-moving consumer goods sectors. She is recognised for delivering transformation and growth in complex, regulated, and competitive markets. She combines CEO-level operational leadership with deep board governance experience in Europe, Asia, Pacific, Africa, and Middle East.

Serpil has over a decade of plc board experience, currently serving as an independent NED at BAT Plc since Dec 2023, with prior service as an independent NED at Danone Group Plc (2015-2023), where she chaired the Corporate Social Responsibility Committee. She has chaired or served as non-executive director on the boards of multiple listed companies and joint ventures, including Vantage Towers' shareholder Oak Holdings (Vodafone - KKR JV), VOIS (Vodafone Plc - Accenture Plc JV), VodafoneZiggo (Vodafone - Liberty Global JV), TPG Telecom Plc, Vodacom Group Plc, Safaricom Plc, Vodafone Qatar Plc, Vodafone India, and Vodafone Egypt.

During November 2013 and June 2025, Serpil held several senior leadership positions on Vodafone's Group Executive Committee, as CEO of Vodafone Investments, CEO of Europe Cluster, CEO of AMAP (Africa, Middle East, Asia, Pacific) Region, and Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer, and . She led large-scale business transformations, M&A's, multi-billion-euro P&L's, and global strategic initiatives, and chaired Vodafone's global Inclusion for All Steering Committee for more than a decade. Serpil joined Vodafone as CEO of Vodafone Turkey in January 2009, having previously served as CEO of Danone Dairy Turkey from 2002. Her formative career was at Procter&Gamble, progressing through various marketing roles to Turkey's Executive Committee.

Serpil has also been serving at the boards of not-for-profit organisations internationally since 2002. An advocate of diversity & inclusion, she is Founding Chair of the global ChangeTheFaceAlliance, a member of World Economic Forum's Digital Leaders of Europe, and a board member of World Turkish Business Council. She has served as a Board Member of GSMA (Global Mobile Association) and chaired the Public Policy Committee. She has been serving as a member of Turkey President/Prime Minister's Investment Advisory Council since 2013 and has been the Chair of YASED (Foreign Direct Investors Association), Vice-Chair of Turkish-British Business Council and Vice-Chair of SETBIR (Dairy and Beef Manufacturers Association) in Turkey. She has also served as a member of Board of Trustees at Koc University.

Serpil has been recognised in various international rankings, including HERoes "100 Women Executives Role Model" ranking 4th in 2024, Fortune's "Most Powerful Women International", and Newsweek's "World's 125 Women of Impact". She has received the global "Diversity in Tech Outstanding Achievement in Tech GLOMO award" in 2022. She has been elected as the "Global Turkish Businessperson of the year" in 2023, 2021 and 2018. She has been nominated as a "Young Global Leader" by World Economic Forum in 2009 and is currently a YGL Alumna.

British and Turkish citizen, she is born in Istanbul and is living in London. She is married, mother of one son, and is a graduate of Business Management at Bosphorous University.
