In his role as Co-President of LawZero, with founder Yoshua Bengio, a leading researcher in AI, Sam is leading an ambitious deep research effort to create Safe-by-Design AI. With the rapid push in the market to achieve Artificial General Intelligence, LawZero is seeking to fundamentally change the foundation of AI models to ensure the benefits of AI are preserved while avoiding the potential risk of misaligned models or their use by bad actors.
Prior to LawZero, Sam founded BrainBox AI, a climate technology scale-up focusing on applying autonomous AI technology to buildings to drive efficiency and decarbonization at a global scale.
Formerly, Sam was a private equity investor with Walter Capital Partners and Brookfield Asset Management. He began his career as a corporate lawyer at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in London and Borden Ladner Gervais
in Toronto.
