Sally Shin is the co-founder of a new stealth startup, Septhom, alongside Thomas Clozel, founder and CEO of Owkin (the first biotech AI unicorn). Septhom is building a foundation model to understand the biomarkers of love. The company is already partnering with a large U.S. hospital (undisclosed) and advised by leading experts from Stanford HAI, Meta AI and early architect of Google’s Verily.
Sally is also a Venture Partner at Comcast Ventures, where she invests in AI companies across the media and entertainment landscape.
Previously, she was the co-founder and COO of Raive, an AI company developing foundation models for the multimedia industry. Raive’s co-founders included former executives from OpenAI (Co-creator of OpenAI Five, employee #11) and NVIDIA’s Senior Scientist. The company raised over $12 million from investors including Obvious Ventures, A*, Norwest, Aglaé Ventures (LVMH), Seedcamp, Kima Ventures, Motier, Clem Delangue from Hugging Face and Francoise Brougher from Pinterest. Raive was acquired at the end of 2024.
Before Raive, Sally served as Chief Strategy Officer at UnitedMasters, where she led business development, partnerships, and corporate strategy. UnitedMasters is a music distribution and services platform backed by Apple, Andreessen Horowitz, and Alphabet, empowering independent artists to manage their music careers and connect with global brands.
Sally began her career in journalism. She was the Executive Editor at NBC News and previously the San Francisco Bureau Chief at CNBC, becoming the network’s youngest bureau chief at age 29. She also launched CNBC’s first ever technology show, which became one of its highest-rated programs.
She has also served as an advisor to Kalshi, the first regulated prediction market platform in the U.S. and a scout for Kleiner Perkins.
Sally holds a B.A. in Journalism and Economics from NYU and an MBA from Columbia Business School. She is a Young Global Leader at the World Economic Forum.
