Roberto Campos Neto served as Governor of Banco Central do Brasil from February 2019 to December 2023, a tenure marked by his strong focus on technology-driven financial innovation, most notably leading the successful launch of PIX, Brazil’s instant payment system. With over 22 years in finance, including two decades at Santander Bank in Brazil and abroad—where he held multiple senior positions and was instrumental in the bank’s digital transformation—Campos Neto is widely recognized for his expertise and research of blockchain, digital assets, and other emerging financial technologies. Following his central bank governorship, where he prioritized inflation control, financial stability, and oversaw initial developments towards Brazil’s Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), he will assume the role of Vice-Chairman at Nubank. Campos Neto holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Economics from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).
